The Connection between plastic & breast cancer was first discovered in 1987 at Tufts Medical School in Boston by research scientists Dr. Ana Soto and Dr. Carlos Sonnenschein. In the midst of their experiments on cancer cell growth, endocrine-disrupting chemicals leached from plastic test tubes into the researcher’s laboratory experiment, causing a rampant proliferation of breast cancer cells. Their findings were published in Environmental Health Perspectives in 1991.
Occupational and Environmental medicine research found that women during their mid 30's exposed to petrol products and synthetic fibers increased breast cancer risk by 7 fold after their menopausal stage.
Environmental chemical that is the significant cause of breast cancer PAH (Polycylic Aromatic Hydrocarbons). When we consume PAHs in food and water our bodies can metabolize and excrete them. But when they metabolize by non-ingestion through our skin they produce intermediate products that react with DNA to form tightly bound complexes or adducts which is the first step in causing cancer.

STUDIES THAT SUPPORT THE BRA/CANCER LINK:
1 1991 Harvard study (CC Hsieh, D Trichopoulos (1991). Breast size, handedness and breast cancer risk. European Journal of Cancer and Clinical Oncology 27(2):131-135.). This study found that, "Premenopausal women who do not wear bras had half the risk of breast cancer compared with bra users..."
2 1991-93 U.S. Bra and Breast Cancer Study by Singer and Grismaijer, published in Dressed To Kill: The Link Between Breast Cancer and Bras (Avery/Penguin Putnam, 1995; ISCD Press, 2005). Found that bra-free women have about the same incidence of breast cancer as men. 24/7 bra wearing increases incidence over 100 times that of a bra-free woman.
3 Singer and Grismaijer did a follow-up study in Fiji, published in Get It Off! (ISCD Press, 2000). Found 24 case histories of breast cancer in a culture where half the women are bra-free. The women getting breast cancer were all wearing bras. Given women with the same genetics and diet and living in the same village, the ones getting breast disease were the ones wearing bras for work.
4 A 2009 Chinese study (Zhang AQ, Xia JH, Wang Q, Li WP, Xu J, Chen ZY, Yang JM (2009). [Risk factors of breast cancer in women in Guangdong and the countermeasures]. In Chinese. Nan Fang Yi Ke Da Xue Xue Bao. 2009 Jul;29(7):1451-3.) found that NOT sleeping in a bra was protective against breast cancer, lowering the risk 60%.

Dr. Elizabeth R Vaughan also proved the connection and her great grandfather was president of the American Medical Association. She was deemed the “Erin Brockovich of medicine” by USDA Today with her provocative outside the mainstream ideas about bras, toxins, and breast cancer. She is the CEO Vaughan Medical Center and her findings also have not been disproven.
The new study joins five others globally, which have linked the bra to breast cancer, giving rise to the popular www.brafree.org website which calls on women to stop wearing bras because of possible health risks.
"We are not anti-bra. We are pro-breast. We believe there are no known health benefits from wearing bras - but there are disturbing parallels between bras and incidents of fibrocystic disease and breast cancer," says a posting by Dr Elizabeth R. Vaughan an American physician.
Dr Vaughan cites five research studies, which she says have indicated a link between breast cancer and the wearing of bras. She says some lingerie manufacturers have developed new bra designs targeted at preventing breast cancer and cite the bra-cancer theory in their patents.

Japan studied the correlation in 2002 with data published in the Journal of Physiological Anthropology and Applied Human Science

For one may argue that the toxins proven and found in bras do not enter the breasts through wearing…however blood tests of studies have proven otherwise and every doctor will concur the permeability of the skin organism.
